My Quick & Easy Educational Easter Egg Hunt

I might just be the most boring mom in the history of the planet, but my kids totally loved this idea!  Chance thought it was an awful idea & I’m so glad the kids 😉 proved him wrong …

Toddler boys having a fun Easter egg hunt.

Last year was the first year we could really do an Easter egg hunt with Hunter & have him actually know what was going on. He was a little over 3 & really excited about it.  Of course, with everything being cancelled due to the pandemic, I felt like I really needed to step up my game.  Gage was a little over 1.5, so I knew he’d be able to enjoy it, too!

For some reason – and I don’t know why – I just so happened to have already picked up plastic Easter eggs before quarantine started.  I’m not sure why I was so ahead of the game – let’s be honest, it was most likely an impulse buy on a Target run if I’m being real.

We don’t do much candy in our house & we started really cutting down on toys, trinkets, knick-knacks etc during Christmas of 2019. My grandma used to put quarters and dollar bills in our eggs when we were growing up, but that’s totally a grandparent thing & I wasn’t putting that kind of money in these eggs 🤣 So what was I going to do with dozens of eggs? I couldn’t leave them empty unfortunately!

I know the hunt is half the fun, but the other half is opening the eggs to see what’s in it!!  I randomly decided to put letters & numbers in our eggs.  The boys {still till this day} love letters, numbers, saying them, practicing their sounds, counting, coming up with words etc.  So yep, I’m THAT mom that made an Easter egg hunt educational.  But ya know what?!? They LOVED it AND I loved that we had no candy, and it really made for lots of extended fun when we went to open the eggs after collecting them.  We let them tell us what letters they got, maybe asked them to tell us a word that started with that letter or say the sound of the letter. We were outside for awhile!

I will add that I did get some jumbo eggs & I put gummies in there.  I made sure each of the boys found 3 of those & they were super happy to see those treats in there 💙

You can grab a printable of the letters, numbers & shapes here.  No color printer at our house so these are not fancy! You can totally print them at home & cut them up with scissors real quick.  Super easy!!

and this is where it all began

As a wife, mom, and business owner, I started this blog as a passion project to share all the things I’ve learned throughout my journey.

To say it’s been a crazy ride would be the understatement of the century, but we have loved sharing our adventures every step of the way.

That’s why I always come back to where it started – this very blog – to continue sharing my tips, tricks, triumphs, and tribulations about all things motherhood, money, business, traveling, and everything in between.

I hope that by sharing these authentic, unfiltered experiences, you can feel seen and heard and learn to embrace the wonder in this messy (but oh, so wonderful) life.
